The top of the valley
Cleckheaton is terraces around the town centre and Northgate, semis on the estates towards Moorend, and the newer housing on the Bradford side. Gomersal is stone houses and drives on the hill; Scholes is a village to the north. Access is reasonable throughout and kerbside loading in the terraces is routine. Each is collected free, exactly like the town centre.
Off junction 26
The M62 makes Cleckheaton a manageable run from Mexborough, and it is grouped with Heckmondwike, Batley and the Spen Valley. A day is chosen when you book; we ring to confirm it and whether the driver will be with you in the morning or the afternoon. Say where the car stands and whether it rolls, and the right lorry is sent.
At the door
Once the driver has checked the registered keeper's photo ID and proof of address and that the car matches the booking, it is loaded, and the transfer follows once the car is checked in at our yard — same day for collections before 3pm, next working day after that. The V5C helps but is not required. Vans from the Cleckheaton units are priced like cars and can be invoiced.
Our site, our certificate
Our yard in Mexborough is the Authorised Treatment Facility, so the car is depolluted and recycled there, the Certificate of Destruction is issued from our own DVLA login and the DVLA hears from us that you are no longer the keeper.
Questions people in Cleckheaton ask us
- Is Cleckheaton inside your free collection area?
- Yes. Cleckheaton is at the edge of our regular West Yorkshire runs, so the distance is already in the price the site shows for your postcode — there is no separate collection charge, and nothing changes on the day.
- How soon can you collect in Cleckheaton?
- Usually within two working days, grouped with Heckmondwike and Batley.
- Do you cover Gomersal and Scholes?
- Yes — both are on the same run as Cleckheaton.
- How soon can you get to Cleckheaton?
- We are not collecting in Cleckheaton at the moment. Call 01709 522656 and we will tell you the nearest date we can help.
- Do you charge for collection in Cleckheaton?
- No. Collection is free — we do not charge for the truck, the driver or the fuel anywhere in BD19, and nothing comes off the price on the day unless the car is not as described.
- What if I have lost the V5C?
- You can still scrap the car. The law asks us to check who you are, not to see the logbook, so photo ID and proof of address are what matter. We issue the Certificate of Destruction and update the DVLA record ourselves.
- Do you pay cash?
- No, and nobody legally can: the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash for scrap vehicles. We pay by bank transfer to the registered keeper once the car is checked in at our yard — the same day for collections before 3pm, next working day after that.
