Scrap my van

Vans, pickups, minibuses and light commercials up to 3.5 tonnes. They weigh more than cars, so they are worth more as scrap — a Transit or Sprinter typically fetches double what a family hatchback does. Enter the registration for a price, and we collect free anywhere within 25 miles of Mexborough.

Priced on real weight: Vans vary a lot — short-wheelbase to Luton. We look yours up rather than using a flat “van” price.
Recovery for the big ones: Our truck handles long-wheelbase and high-roof vans, and we can send a heavier unit for anything awkward.
Company vehicles welcome: We handle the extra paperwork for fleet and business vans, including VAT invoices where you need one.
Paid to the business: Bank transfer to the registered keeper — sole trader or limited company — on the day.

Vans we scrap

Panel vans (Transit, Sprinter, Vivaro, Trafic, Transporter, Crafter, Ducato, Relay, Boxer, Master), car-derived vans (Berlingo, Partner, Caddy, Connect, Combo, Fiesta van), pickups (Hilux, Ranger, L200, Navara, D-Max), tippers and dropsides, Lutons and box vans on a 3.5-tonne chassis, minibuses and crew vans, and campervan conversions. Age, mileage and condition do not matter.

Why vans are worth more than cars

Scrap value is driven by weight. A Ford Focus weighs about 1,300 kg; a long-wheelbase Transit is over 2,000 kg and a 3.5-tonne Luton with a body can be 2,500 kg empty. More steel, more money. Diesel vans also usually have a larger catalytic converter and, on newer ones, a diesel particulate filter, both of which carry value.

Business and fleet vans

If the van belongs to a business we can invoice, pay to the company account and provide the Certificate of Destruction in the company name for your records. For several vehicles at once, or an ongoing arrangement for a fleet, get in touch and we will agree a rate.

Before collection

Clear it out — tools, racking, anything under the seats or in the bulkhead.
Remove gas bottles from campers and any hazardous cargo.
Have the V5C and ID ready; for company vans, something showing your authority to sell it.
Tell us if it does not start or the wheels are seized so we bring the right truck.

Common questions

How much is a scrap van worth?

It depends on the size. A small van such as a Berlingo or Connect is priced much like a car; a Transit, Sprinter or Vivaro typically comes in well above, and a 3.5-tonne Luton or dropside more again because of the weight. Enter the registration for an exact figure.

The van is registered to my company — what do you need?

The same as for a private vehicle, plus something showing the person handing it over is authorised to act for the company: a company letterhead, a business card and ID, or an email from a director. Payment goes to a business account in the company’s name.

Can you scrap a van that has been converted or has racking?

Yes. Take out anything you want to keep — racking, tools, ply lining — before we arrive. Anything left in it is scrapped with the van. Camper conversions are fine too; gas bottles must be removed first.

Do you take vans over 3.5 tonnes?

Call us. We can usually handle 7.5-tonne trucks and larger commercials but they need a different vehicle and are priced individually.
