Terms and conditions
1. Who we are
Motorspot Ltd (“we”, “us”) operates https://motorspot.co.uk. We buy end-of-life, scrap and damaged vehicles from private sellers and arrange for them to be collected and processed by licensed third parties.
2. Quotations
A quotation is generated from the vehicle details held against the registration you supply and the answers you give about the vehicle's condition and location. It is valid for the period shown on the quote and is offered on the basis that the information you have given is accurate and complete.
Where the vehicle differs materially from your description — for example missing an engine, gearbox or catalytic converter, or carrying damage you did not disclose — we may revise the offer. Any revised offer will be explained to you before the vehicle is loaded, and you may decline it at no cost.
3. Ownership and authority
By accepting a quotation you confirm that you are the registered keeper of the vehicle, or are authorised by the registered keeper to sell it, and that the vehicle is free of finance, is not subject to an insurance claim in progress, and is not stolen.
4. Collection
Collection is arranged for the date you select, subject to availability and to safe access to the vehicle. Where a collection charge applies to your area it is shown on your quote and deducted from the price. We may reschedule a collection where weather, access or circumstances beyond our control make it unsafe or impossible.
You must remove all personal belongings before collection. We accept no liability for items left in a vehicle once it has been collected.
5. Identification
The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 requires us to verify the identity of the person supplying a scrap vehicle. Our collection agent will ask to see photo identification and proof of address dated within the last three months. Collection cannot proceed without it.
6. Payment
Payment is made by bank transfer or, on request, by cheque. We do not and cannot pay cash: cash payment for scrap metal, including vehicles, is prohibited by the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 in England and Wales. Payment is made to the registered keeper.
7. Documentation and the DVLA
Where the vehicle is destroyed, an Authorised Treatment Facility will issue a Certificate of Destruction. We will notify the DVLA that you are no longer the registered keeper. You remain responsible for cancelling your own insurance and for any tax refund application.
8. Private registrations
If you wish to retain a personalised registration you must transfer or retain it before collection. Once a vehicle has been destroyed the registration cannot be recovered, and we accept no liability for a registration lost in this way.
9. Cancellation
You may cancel a booked collection at any time before the vehicle has been loaded, at no charge. Where a vehicle is not available on arrival, or access has not been arranged as described, we reserve the right to charge a reasonable wasted-journey fee.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Save for that, our total liability in connection with any transaction is limited to the value of the quotation for that vehicle.
11. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, contact us at info@motorspot.co.uk and we will respond within one working day. We aim to resolve complaints within fourteen days.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
