Along the A645
Featherstone is terraces along Station Lane and Wakefield Road, estates behind them, and the newer housing on the Purston side. Ackton is the old village up the hill; Streethouse is a mile west towards Wakefield. Kerbside loading is routine in the terraces and the estates are drives. Collection is free across the lot.
Grouped with Pontefract
Featherstone goes out with Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley, so a lorry is in the Five Towns most days and two working days is the usual lead time. The booking asks for a day; we confirm it by phone and tell you whether the driver is coming in the morning or the afternoon.
What we need to know
Where the car is, and whether it moves. A car that has sat since the last MOT gets the winch at no extra charge and the small non-runner adjustment shown on the quote before you accept. The driver checks photo ID and proof of address for the registered keeper, loads the car, and the bank transfer follows once the car is checked in at our yard — same day for collections before 3pm, next working day after that.
The ATF is ours
The car goes to our own Authorised Treatment Facility in Mexborough to be depolluted and recycled, we issue the Certificate of Destruction from our own DVLA login, and the DVLA is notified that you are no longer the keeper. Write-offs, MOT failures and cars without a V5C are all priced the same way.

Questions people in Featherstone ask us
- How soon can you collect in Featherstone?
- Usually within two working days, grouped with Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley.
- Do you cover Ackton and Streethouse?
- Yes — Featherstone, Purston Jaglin, Ackton and Streethouse are on the same run at the same free collection.
- What does the driver need from me?
- The registered keeper's photo ID and proof of address, the keys, and the V5C if you have it. Payment is by bank transfer once the car has been checked in at our yard: same day if we collect before 3pm, next working day if later.
- How soon can you get to Featherstone?
- Featherstone is only 13 miles from us in Mexborough. Pick a day when you book; we ring to confirm it, and whether it will be morning or afternoon.
- Do you charge for collection in Featherstone?
- No. Collection is free — we do not charge for the truck, the driver or the fuel anywhere in WF7, and nothing comes off the price on the day unless the car is not as described.
- What if I have lost the V5C?
- You can still scrap the car. The law asks us to check who you are, not to see the logbook, so photo ID and proof of address are what matter. We issue the Certificate of Destruction and update the DVLA record ourselves.
- Do you pay cash?
- No, and nobody legally can: the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash for scrap vehicles. We pay by bank transfer to the registered keeper once the car is checked in at our yard — the same day for collections before 3pm, next working day after that.
